Job Summary/Purpose:

Computer Lab Attendants are available as a resource to students for all COCC technology account questions and who have specific questions regarding computer usage & techniques or who are encountering computer problems while in the labs and over the phone.

This position is for the Library Computer Lab on the Bend Campus.

Terms of Employment:
• This is a part-time (<.50 FTE) Federal Work Study position
• Requires flexible work schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends as well as travel throughout the district when needed.
•Must have been awarded and accepted Federal Work-Study for 2018-19
•Must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress for financial aid.
• Upon hire, must pass criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered.

Essential Functions:

1. Provide friendly information and assistance to all students, faculty, staff and guests.
2. Assists lab patrons with use of computer software programs
3. Instruct lab users with appropriate procedures and established work orders.
4. Responsible for cleaning the lab and provide general facility maintenance.
5. Serve as a mentor for Computer Lab Attendant I employees
6. Troubleshoot computer hardware and software issues
7. Answer questions on Feedback 365
8. Willingness to complete all assignments and training’s
9. Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Individuals must possess the listed knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The individual is expected to follow College work rules and policies.

• Knowledge of all computer lab policy & procedures
• Knowledge of lab computers
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Knowledge of COCC Accounts
• Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Able to follow lab procedures and established work orders
• Able to maintain security and educational atmosphere of the lab
• Knowledge of and experience with filing and organization
• Experience with and have good computer skills.
• Must have good customer service skills.
• Ability to do different tasks daily.

Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements:

The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations. Occasional lifting under ten pounds for 15 percent of the time. Computer screen is used more than 70 percent of the time. Must be able to climb or pull self-upward and guide, feeding materials into proper position. Able to crawl under desks to check cabling and able to carry supplies between campus buildings. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have been awarded and accepted Federal Work-Study for 2018-19.
• Must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress for financial aid.
• Successfully pass a background check.
• Basic knowledge of computers, the Internet, COCC email, and MS Office

Special Qualifications:

• Successfully completed CIS 120
• Prior work-study position as computer lab attendant.
