Graphic Designer, Communications & Marketing  Requisition # 170000011R 

This position will assist in maintaining the University’s existing image as defined through visual and graphic representations and support advancement of the institution and its interest, through creative production of UTC’s public relations materials. Responsibilities include:

  • Creative and original design and art execution, from conception to final product

  • Imaginative and innovative thinking during art department creative sessions

  • Working effectively and efficiently with the creative team using established office practices

  • Assisting in the advancement of the institution and its interest, through creative presentation of UTC and its established branding in brochures, annual reports, advertising media, website and related online channels, emerging technologies, and other diverse materials and means of presentation to support all areas of marketing, including recruitment, private donations, community outreach, and various legislative issues

  • Meeting with clients to determine not merely their literal, expressed needs and desires, but to help in determining and consulting on ultimate means the methods of execution needed to meet them in a professional, distinctive, effective, and cost-efficient manner

  • Using workflow software for tracking time, job notes, and maintaining electronic filing system for archival purposes


  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, or a related field is required

  • Three years of experience in a highly diversified design environment

  • Experience with print specification and related technical procedures

  • Knowledge of and experience with website and related, emerging technologies

  • Must be able to design graphics and maintain content for posting to the university website

  • Excellent, diverse personal and written communication skills

  • Extensive knowledge of Macintosh computer systems and advance, contemporary software for design and related functions

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite

  • Must be able to stay professional and current in a variety of fields, including art, design, advertising, institutional advancement, computer communications, and higher education content

  • Must be able to juggle many projects and priorities and be able to vary the pace of work and output to meet critical deadlines and needs

  • Occasional evening and weekends work required

  • Occasional overnight travel required
