Wayne State University (WSU) is recruiting a Vice President for Health Affairs and Dean of the School of Medicine who will play a critical role in the continued growth of the university and its broad initiatives in the health sciences and across campus. The successful individual will have the opportunity to provide leadership in a dynamic and rapidly evolving urban environment and shape the future of academic health science centers. A key objective for the University involves the further integrated development of an academic health sciences center to enhance partnerships among the University’s health affairs schools and colleges and existing and potential health care provider partners.The Vice President for Health Affairs and Dean of the School of Medicine will lead this initiative in collaboration with key institutional leaders. The successful candidate will have the special opportunity to: a) shape the future of a School of Medicine uniquely positioned for broad impact across all aspects of its mission; b) lead an interprofessional team to enhance cross-disciplinary collaboration that advances the health affairs-related mission of the University; c) collaborate with key stakeholders to develop new methods of research, education and care delivery that serve as a global model for urban-based academic health centers; and, d) make signature contributions to the role of academic health centers and the public health mission in urban environments.
Candidates must have a medical degree (M.D.) and a track record of personal accomplishments and distinguished academic credentials that provide suitable experience and background.
