Position Summary

Please note: the link for the school of Art has been updated.

The University of Arizona School of Art is seeking a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure-eligible) to join the Painting and Drawing area of the 2-D division beginning August 2019. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an active studio practice with an emphasis in painting, and should be well-versed in contemporary and historical issues in painting and drawing.

While the 2-D division provides a solid foundation in painting, drawing, and printmaking, significant emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary approaches to studio art. Our students are encouraged to experiment with a wide range of techniques, materials, and ideas, both traditional and experimental. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in painting and drawing; however, we encourage applicants whose work blurs the lines between traditional 2-D media and expanded interpretations of the 2-D fields offered within the School of Art. The ideal applicant will play an essential role in contributing to the evolving vision and future trajectory of the 2-D division.

Considering the University’s recent designation as a Hispanic Serving Institution and increasingly diverse student population, it is expected that the successful candidate will effectively demonstrate an ability to contribute to an inclusive learning environment for our students through teaching, mentorship and recruitment.
