Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology invites applications for the position of full-time faculty in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. The faculty member serves as an instructor for Composition and Humanities and Social Sciences courses, teaching predominantly composition courses each semester. Through teaching, participating in institutional initiatives, and pursuing professional development, the faculty member contributes to the mission, outcomes, and strategic plan of the department and the College. The candidate should be an energetic and enthusiastic team player. Key Responsibilities :
Demonstrate effective teaching, including preparation, meeting course goals, organizing and presenting materials, engaging students in active learning, and effectively managing a classroom. Providing academic support to students also plays a central role in this position.
Meet all departmental responsibilities as assigned by Chair regarding teaching, assessment, curriculum development, evaluation, reporting, participation in departmental and college-wide meetings and activities.
Uphold academic and community standards as outlined in the faculty and student handbooks.
Collaborate with other BFIT departments for the mutual benefit of all.
Other duties as required.
The successful candidate will have:
oAn earned master’s degree from a recognized college or university with major study in English, Composition and Rhetoric, or a related field.
oTwo years teaching experience at the college level.
oStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Type of Appointment:
This is a full-time, nine-month faculty appointment, beginning September 2, 2019, with expectation of renewal on satisfactory performance. Starting salary is $40,000 with additional compensation available for tutoring and courses taught during the summer sessions (when available).
