The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) at New York University invites applications for a Faculty Fellow to begin in September 2019, pending administrative and budgetary approval. CLACS is a Title VI National Resource Center (jointly with Columbia University’s Institute for Latin American Studies) with a prominent Masters’ program in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. We seek an outstanding scholar of Latin American and Caribbean Studies with demonstrable commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship and excellence in teaching. Discipline and regional specialization are open; a focus on indigenous, environmental, or migration studies is particularly welcome. Responsibilities include teaching three courses per year in the CLACS MA program (including co-teaching the core course on the colonial period), mentoring students, supervising MA theses, and participating in faculty colloquia. PhD in a relevant discipline must be in hand by time of appointment and must have been completed no earlier than September 2014. The position is renewable annually for a maximum of three years.
