Serve as a mentor to Latino high school students during GANAS- a 4 day/3 night summer symposium at the COCC Bend campus

Essential Job Functions

1. Supervise students throughout symposium making sure students are meeting expectations, monitor behavior and engagement and encourage participation
2. Participate in and/or lead all activities while providing guidance to students
3. Assist Ganas Coordinators with all logistics including check in/check-out, material distributions, etc.
4. Serve as a mentor/leader to address/listen to student concerns.
5. Other duties as assigned

1. Experience in advising and mentoring college, high school, and/or middle school students.
2. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of multicultural issues in secondary schools and on college campuses.
3. Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines, set work priorities, and manage workload.
4. Excellent communication skills and ability to manage conflicts within and/or between groups.
5. Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds.
6. Must be able to work in a team environment.
7. Ability to interpret College enrollment policies and explain rationale behind policies for prospective and current students and their families, ensuring their understanding of expectations and requirements.

Work will be performed in and out of classroom settings. Mentors are required to stay on campus for the entire duration of the program. There will be physical components of the symposium including but not limited to hiking, walking, climbing stairs, siting, singing, dancing, etc. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
