Job Summary/Purpose:

Serve as the lab attendant for the Geographic Information Systems lab (Ponderosa Annex).


Terms of Employment:
• This is a part-time (<.50 FTE) Federal Work Study position
• Requires flexible work schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends as well as travel throughout the district when needed.
•Must have been awarded and accepted Federal Work-Study for 2018-19
•Must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress for financial aid.
• Upon hire, must pass criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered.


Job Location is on the Bend and Redmond Campus.


Essential Functions:

The lab attendant’s duties will include opening and closing the lab as directed and monitoring all activities within the lab during those hours. Arm/Disarm security system, monitor computer and printer use to insure work being performed by users is class related and not inappropriate or an unrelated activity.


He/she will field questions relating to GIS coursework projects, and maintain a quiet, professional atmosphere to foster learning.
Additional duties include: keeping monitors, computers, table tops and seats clean; prevent the consumption of food and drink at workstations and ensure safety and security of students using the lab.

• General understanding of computer hardware and software

Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements:

Working hours are regular, per the established work schedule. Work is performed in an ordinary office, mostly sitting. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to function effectively indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature with the ability to sit or stand at workstation for extended periods. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations. Occasional lifting under ten pounds for 15 percent of the time. Computer screen is used more than 75 percent of the time. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
