Provide instruction in the Forestry Department as a member of an instructional team as needed. Instruction is for students of various forestry courses and students in an Associate of Applied Science degree program. The position involves teaching, directing student discussions, selecting and conducting learning experiences and field events appropriate for meeting objectives, and evaluating student performance in the classroom.
• This is a part-time (< .50 FTE) non-benefited position, hired on a term-by-term basis. Hours of work may include evening or weekend teaching assignments.
1. Provide instruction in Forestry-related areas such as wildlife identification (FW 212 or FW 218, Survey of Northwest Birds, and Mammals), soils (FOR 208 – Soils: Sustainable Ecosystems), forest navigation (FOR 230A Map, Compass, GPS), introduction to forestry (FOR 111 – Forestry Perspectives), forest protection (FOR 272 – Forest Entomology and Pathology), chainsaw use (FOR 130 – Chainsaw Use and Maintenance). Classroom teaching may require 4-8 load units (4-8 contact hours per week) per term, involving 10-40 students per class. Teaching assignments may include courses taught during the day and/or evening classes taught on or off campus.
2. Lecture and guide in-classroom activities, online/web-based activities, provide individual conference time to guide and evaluate student progress. Teaching assignments may include courses taught during the day and/or evening, classes taught on or off campus
3. Provide one hour of office time per week per course to guide and evaluate student progress. Teaching requires maintaining one office hour per course, per week.
4. Utilize resources, including technological resources such as Blackboard, to provide current course content and to record grades.
5. Conduct classroom presentations and activities; incorporate new methodologies in teaching and technology into classes. Includes shared responsibility for curriculum development and participation in evaluation for courses and the program.
6. Cooperate with other College personnel to assist students with career planning, job placement, and follow-up studies.
7. Act as a resource person for students.
8. Work with appropriate College personnel to write proposals for program funds.
9. Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to each location, by required deadlines relevant to part-time instructor teaching assignments, as assigned.

|Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements:|
Work is performed in classroom and office environments with the ability to sit or stand at workstation for extended periods. The employee is regularly required to use computers, white boards, projectors, and other basic office equipment. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary conversations. Computer screen is used frequently. Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. Travel throughout the College district as needed. A flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, may be necessary due to the nature of the position responsibilities. The employee is required to meet physical and ergonomic requirements of the program area as this may vary from positions. Operate other basic office equipment, as well as operating any field NFPA approved equipment
