Job Summary/Purpose:

To coach students in a club sports environment. Responsible for providing an atmosphere of fun in a competitive, yet safe, environment.


Terms of Employment:
• This is a part-time (<.50 FTE) Temporary Hourly/Non-Benefited position
• Requires flexible work schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends as well as travel throughout the district when needed.
• Upon hire, must pass criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered.


Essential Functions:

1. Attend weekday practices and weekend games
2. Planning and managing structured workouts; evaluate player skillsets
3. Ensure team members are in compliance with requirements regarding player eligibility.
4. Maintain an open dialogue with players and club leaders.
5. Assist in preparation and cleanup of facilities.
6. Perform other duties as they pertain to the overall objective of the position, as needed.

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using another combination of skills and abilities. The incumbent is expected to follow College work rules and policies.


1. Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with college students.
2. Knowledge of playing rules and regulations of specific sport; knowledge of league rules and regulations.
3. Respond to and deal with conflict management that may occur during the game.
4. Ability to work with co-workers in an athletic environment.
5. Ability to initiate and perform work without supervision.
6. Ability to review, understand and apply concepts presented in tournaments.
7. Willingness to travel and perform duties at various hours and locations including during weekends and evenings, as required.
8. Ability to work cooperatively with and contribute to a diverse workplace through ideas or experience.
9. Ability to apply and enforce playing rules of specific sport;
10. Ability to exercise strong initiative and significant independent decision making;
11. Able to demonstrate strong leadership and problem solving skills;
12. Able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form;
13. Able to interact with a variety of patrons/participants;
14. Able to establish and maintain positive, respectful and cooperative relationships with all contacts.


Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements:

Working hours are regular per the established work schedule. Lifting of objects and equipment up to 50 pounds occurs at times. Must be able to climb or pull self upward, kneel, stoop, crawl and crouch. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent
2. Two years’ experience officiating or competitive participation at the College level.

Special Qualifications:

• Experience in a higher education environment.
