Job Summary/Purpose:

Serve as an assistant and grader for CIS and/or CS courses.


Terms of Employment:
• This is a part-time (<.50 FTE) Temporary Hourly/Non-Benefited position
• Requires flexible work schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends as well as travel throughout the district when needed.
• Upon hire, must pass criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered.


Essential Functions:

1. Assist students with programming specific homework and lab assignments.
2. Orient students to the unique software and web services for the class.
3. Review completed homework/labs/assessments for errors.
4. Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the duties and responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The incumbent is expected to follow College work rules and policies.


1. Familiarity with web development and programming concepts.
2. Successful completion of essential courses in CIS or CS as necessary for the class(es)/students asigned to assist.
3. Ability to work with all types of students and skill sets.
4. Ability to operate networked computers and computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets and keyboarding.
5. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing using the English language with or without the use of an interpreter.
6. Must have strong interpersonal, communication and individual instruction skills.


Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements:

Work is performed in an ordinary office and computer lab setting, mostly sitting. Extended standing with occasional lifting between 10-50lbs. Health/safety exposures include noise extremes five percent of the time and ventilation extremes five percent of the time. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to function effectively indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature with the ability to sit or stand at workstation for extended periods. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations. Computer screen is used more than 50 percent of the time. Must be able to climb or pull self upward and guide, feeding materials into proper position. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or GED.
