Job Summary/Purpose:

Assist in beginning and advanced painting classes with safety procedures and physical room set up and cleanup.


Terms of Employment:


• This is a part-time (<.50 FTE) Temporary Hourly/Non-Benefited position
• Requires flexible work schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends as well as travel throughout the district when needed.
• Upon hire, must pass criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered.


Essential Functions:

1. Organize and maintain procedures for the use and clean-up of art materials.
2. Review inventory needs and maintain safety supplies: gloves, wiping rags, containers and palettes.
3. Assist students in building canvas supports, supplying tools; demonstrating safe usage: saws, staplers, hammers, glue, and sanding tools.
4. Move and position easels and pallet tables before and after each class.
5. Maintain the equipment in working order.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The individual is expected to follow College work rules and policies.


1. Ability to prepare and clean class materials, inventory.
2. Familiarity with repair and construction tools.
3. Ability to lift and move furniture in the studio.
4. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using the English language with or without the use of an interpreter.
5. Knowledge of standard office equipment and phones.
6. Ability to work cooperatively and sensitively with constituents from diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives.


Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements:

Work hours are flexible per course lab needs. Hours may include evenings and weekends, along with traditional work hours. Work is physical. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to function effectively in an indoor or outdoor environment with the ability to sit or stand at workstation for extended periods. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations. Occasional lifting up to 50lbs and possible use power hand tools. All individuals are required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or GED
2. Computer literacy: experience with email, Internet, word processing, and spreadsheets (preferably experience with MS Office Suite products).
3. Experience with the Internet and internal E-Mail system (prefer knowledge of Outlook).
4. Accurate arithmetic, grammar, spelling, editing and proofreading skills.
