Job Summary/Purpose:

Provide sign language interpretation for hearing-impaired students for both continuing education and credit classes.

Terms of Employment:

• This is a part-time, on-call, non-exempt hourly position that has no guarantee of hours and does not offer health benefits.
• Requires flexible work schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends as well as travel throughout the district.
• Upon hire, must pass criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered.
• May require the provision of official transcripts upon hire.

Provide sign language interpretation for hearing-impaired students for both continuing education and credit classes.

Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements:


Working hours are generally Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Additional hours or schedule changes may be required based on work requirements. Incumbent must be able to function effectively indoors in an office and or classroom environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to sit or stand at workstation for extended periods. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms. Requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations. Occasional lifting up to 15lbs. Must be able to meet the physical demands of multiple environments. Individual is required to be able to perform the essential functions. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions listed above with or without reasonable accommodation.

Special Qualifications:

1. Preference will be given to individuals with completion of a two or four year accredited interpreter education program or a degree in a related field, and /or demonstrated equivalent educational interpreting experience at the higher education level.
