A research initiative on the development of platform technologies for the controlled, sustained release of pharmaceuticals has been funded in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Tufts. The Biomedical Engineering Department is a multi-disciplinary department that offers comprehensive research opportunities for those interested in the field, with significant emphasis on areas such as biomaterials, drug delivery, and tissue engineering. This particular initiative focuses on biomaterials preparation, characterization and optimization for biocompatibility in vitro and in vivo for a sustained drug delivery system.
The department has an opening for a Research Technician / Senior Research Technician, the key responsibilities of which will be to collect, organize, analyze, and report scientific data. The Technician will be responsible for carrying out laboratory experiments including high throughput material-drug screening, biomaterial preparation and characterization, as well as drug loading and release studies. The Technician must be self-motivated and have superb communication/organizational skills. She/he must be able to collect, organize, and report scientific data with proficiency.
* B.S. in scientific or engineering discipline
* 0-2 yrs. of lab experience
* Experience in standard laboratory techniques, proficient in Microsoft Office
The ideal candidate would have 2+ yrs. of lab experience (industry experience considered a plus). Previous experience with drug formulation/delivery is desirable, as is any previous experience with the use and maintenance of one or more analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, MS) and or biochemical assays (ELISA, SDS-PAGE, etc.). Previous experience in a pharmaceutical research lab and/or chemistry research lab is also a plus.
Tufts University is an AA/EO employer and actively seeks candidates from diverse backgrounds.
