This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.
This Reserch Technician position is within a laboratory that focuses on mammary gland biology and disease, control of cell proliferation, and environmental endocrine disruptors. There are a wide variety of techniques used to determine the role of cells and their microenvironment in the formation of normal glands and tissues. The members of the laboratory work together to explore these topics, using cell culture, animal models and mathematical models.
The Research Technician is responsibilities may include:
·Assisting with animal surgeries and tissue collection in both rat and mouse models
·Processing tissue, histology, and RNA, DNA and protein extraction
·Cell culture work maintaining cell lines
·collecting primary cells from tissue
·general lab upkeep such as autoclaving, ordering, and organizing data and materials
·molecular techniques including:PCR, RT-PCR and QRT-PCR, Southern and Western blots, and gel electrophoresis
Job Description - Requirements :
Basic Requirements: Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field with 0-2 years of experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Outlook.Superior communication skills (both written and verbal), Detail oriented and able to multi-task in a busy environment, must be able to lift up to 40 lbs with or without accommodation. Must complete4 all approriate background checks as required.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with animals and with scientific instrumentation
Special Work Schedule Requirements: Occasional weekend or evening hours may be needed.
