Nassau Community College

Nassau Community College (NCC) in Long Island, New York, seeks a new president. NCC, a unit of the 64-campus State University of New York, is a publicly supported Community College providing educational access and opportunity on Long Island. NCC, the largest single- campus community college in the state of New York, maintains a nationwide reputation for academic excellence and ease of transferability to four-year institutions. The College offers the A.A. degree in Liberal Arts focused on humanities and social sciences, the A.S. degree in Liberal Arts emphasizing mathematics and laboratory sciences, specialized A.A. and A.S. transfer degrees, and A.A.S. degrees and certificate programs designed to serve immediate employment goals of students. As of fall 2012, NCC currently enrolls approximately 23,074 students in its degree, certificate, and professional studies.  For the 2011-2012 academic year, Lifelong Learning reported 12,409 registrations in its continuing education programs.  The College employs more than 1,113 full-time faculty and staff, 1,250 adjunct faculty, and has an operating budget of $205 million.

Today, approximately 20% of college-bound public high-school graduates in Nassau County enroll at NCC, with most of them choosing to begin the first two years of their baccalaureate studies at the community college level.  The College has the largest Honors program in the SUNY system, and the faculty, which includes more holders of doctoral degrees than any other community college in New York State, includes Fulbright Scholars, widely recognized academics, and creative artists.

The Board of Trustees seeks a highly committed, innovative and collaborative leader who will guide the College at this time of tremendous opportunity. The President, together with the Board, will set the agenda and strategic vision for the future of NCC. S/he will lead by example, enhancing the sense of community and intellectual environment of the College. As the chief ambassador for NCC, the President will strengthen partnerships and relationships with local and state government, alumni, area businesses, industry, and other educational institutions and organizations. The President will also pursue the acquisition of necessary financial resources from diverse sources.

Nominations, applications (including cover letter and resume), expressions of interest and requests for additional information may be directed to the Witt/Kieffer consultants assisting NCC with this effort:
