Job Description
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine seeks qualified candidates to become the inaugural Director of its planned Pediatric Residency Program, envisioned to open in 2020. Since the position is a 0.5FTE, the successful candidate (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) will also be expected to function part time (up to 0.5FTE) in his/her specialty/subspecialty. Salary, rank, and tenure status are dependent upon qualifications and experience.

The Program Director will support all aspects of graduate medical education and clinical delivery services by the residents as well as oversight of all clerical functions. Duties include developing curriculum, coordinating and presenting didactic lectures, integrating specialty principles and overseeing education and clinical care according to the ACGME Special Requirements for Graduate Training in Pediatrics. This position will also monitor and evaluate all resident progress and coordinate training with other medical faculty, providers and off site facilities. Another feature of this position is providing counsel, advising and directing resident physician trainees regarding their clinical and educational development within the residency program. In addition the incumbent will participate in the evaluation, interviewing, ranking and selecting of applicants to the residency program on an annual basis.

The position presents a unique opportunity to be the founding Program Director and so will have the ability to shape the program according to ACGME guidelines. This position has the authority to develop standards and evaluation tools in order to teach, consult, counsel and evaluate performance. The incumbent will also participate in the Institutional governance of GME programs: maintain current knowledge of and compliance with UNR MED GME policies, and compliance with ACGME institutional and program requirements, participate in GME committees, subcommittees and task forces as requested. The incumbent will oversee all information requests and documentation related to accurate and complete program files as requested by the GME Office or Office of Academic Affairs and ensure that residents comply with periodic surveys and requests from the ACGME or other accrediting bodies.

The University of Nevada Reno, School of Medicine is affiliated with the Renown Children's Hospital and the Renown Health Medical Group in Reno, NV. The incumbent will be appointed in the Section appropriate to the sub-specialty. All pediatric sub-specialties are encouraged to apply. The incumbent will also be expected to participate in other healthcare educational pursuits, (medical students, PA students, NP, Nursing students) and support clinical research and scholarly activity. All Pediatric faculty members share call and weekend/holiday coverage.

Required Qualifications
Qualified candidates will be energetic, highly-motivated, and meet the following requirements: have a MD or DO degree and be board certified in Pediatrics; eligible to obtain medical licensure in Nevada; eligible to obtain medical staff privileges at Renown Regional Medical Center; requisite, specialty expertise and documented educational and administrative experience at least three years' experience as a core faculty member in an ACGME-accredited pediatric program; demonstrated experience in a leadership role; evidence of ongoing involvement in scholarly activity, including peer-reviewed publications;
