Working in lab, must be able to lift/carry up to 25 lbs; stand or sitting for extended periods; and periodically work with large animals to gain samples for research.

|Job Summary|| |
The College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, department of Animal and Food Sciences seeks a Laboratory Technician Senior. The Laboratory Technician Senior will conduct (equine) research trials under the direction of the Principal Investigator(s) and/or assistant with graduate student research trials.
Perform the analysis of physiological (equine blood, muscle, urine, feces) and other (feed) samples using techniques including, but not limited to, HPLC, GC-MS, western blotting, fecal egg counts, and UV/Visible spectrophotometric analyses.
Conduct (equine) research trials under the direction of the Principal Investigator or assist with graduate student research trials with responsibilities including: – care for the animals on research trials (stall cleaning, turnout, feeding, holding for farrier) – collect and process samples (blood, muscle biopsies, fecal samples, breath samples) – maintain animal care and use records.
Teach graduate students and other researchers (as necessary) how to use research equipment and perform relevant research techniques.
Maintain a laboratory compliant with the laboratory safety requirements, etc.

Experience with horses or research animals, experience with HPLC, and GC-MS, western blotting.

MS in Animal Science or work experience in veterinary field with large animals.
