Incumbents of positions in this series install heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment including related fixtures; check heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, including hot water, steam systems, DDC in a variety of buildings (Academic, Resident Halls, Lab) and perform related work as required. The basic purpose of this work is to install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):EPA Reclaim License
-Journeyman or Master HVAC or Pipefitter License
-Minimum of 1 years of Journeyman or Master License experience in the technical installation, maintenance and repair of HVAC systems
-The ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
-Must be willing to work all shifts
*A second shift 2:30pm-11:00PM, M-F is anticipated.  

Other Considerations: Preference given to those with 5 years of Journeyman or Master License experience in the technical experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of HVAC systems or equivalent.
-Knowledge of the standard preventative maintenance procedures for heating ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning systems.
-Knowledge of the methods for lubricating machinery and equipment.
-Knowledge and skill in the uses of small hand and power tools.
-Knowledge of the safety practices and procedure followed in the installation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning and related electrical systems.
-Knowledge of the terminology, coding symbols and standard abbreviations used in the installation, maintenance and repair of heating, refrigeration, ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning and related electrical systems.
-Knowledge of the methods and techniques followed in the installation, maintenance and repair of heating, refrigeration, ventilating, air conditioning, steam and related electrical systems.
-Knowledge of the methods and techniques of pipes threading and soldering.
-Knowledge of the types and uses of equipment and materials used in heating, refrigeration, ventilating, air conditioning, steam and related electrical systems.
-Skill in the use of electrical testing equipment.
-Skill in operating heating, refrigeration, ventilating, and air conditioning machinery and related equipment.
-Knowledge of electrical, electronic (DDC) and pneumatic HVAC control systems.
-Knowledge of the use electrical test equipment such as voltmeters amp probe, etc.
-Knowledge of the laws, regulations and codes governing the safe and environmentally correct operation and repair of building systems
-Ability to understand and apply the policies, procedures, specifications, and standards and guidelines governing HVAC activities.
-Ability to read and interpret documents such as specifications, operation manuals and blueprints.
-Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
-Mechanics aptitude and dexterity.
-Knowledge of basic computer skills
-Ability to operate Energy Management Systems
Pharmaceutical, or Research Laboratory experience
-Journeyman Sheet metal license
-Demonstrate understanding of HVAC and Direct Digital Control systems.
-A certificate or diploma from a recognized institution above the high school level as the evidence of completion of a two year program in refrigeration and heating may be used as part of the required experience.
