The TSYS School of Computer Science invites applications from exceptional candidates working in the area of cybersecurity, with a demonstrated track record of leadership and excellence in applied research, education, and operational practices.
The successful candidate will be considered for the position of the TSYS Endowed Chair in Cybersecurity and/or Director of the TSYS Cybersecurity Center. We are seeking a recognized cybersecurity expert who has the vision, enthusiasm, motivation, and expertise to build new bridges between faculty, external stakeholders, and collaborators as well as increase external funding from industry, government and/or military sources. The School specifically aims to galvanize and foster strong relationships with our academic, industry, government, and military partners as it establishes itself as a nationally recognized leader in developing career-ready cybersecurity graduates.
The TSYS School has identified cybersecurity as one of its strategic growth areas and is seeking candidates who will lead and nurture this initiative. Candidates having synergistic interests with existing strengths across the University and those with an interest and desire to broaden our current programs in cybersecurity will generate the most interest. Applicants with a combination of industry and academic experience, industry influence, highly innovative research agendas, high-level industry experience, highly practical and innovative agendas, and those who cross traditional disciplinary boundaries are particularly welcome to apply.
The successful candidate for the endowed chair will have a terminal degree in Computer Science or a related field; meet the qualifications for appointment at the rank of associate or full professor; and have strong organizational and team building skills. Candidates without a terminal degree in Computer Science from industry, government, and/or military backgrounds with impressive cybersecurity experience, credentials, and track records in fostering collaborative enterprises from various stakeholders and partners will also receive full consideration for the Director of the TSYS Cybersecurity Center.
The TSYS School, a division of the Turner College of Business at Columbus State University (CSU), is recognized by the United States National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense. CSU was selected as one of seven universities to join the University System of Georgia’s Cyber Security Initiative. The mission of the initiative is to develop a cybersecurity workforce to meet the needs of the public and private sectors in the State of Georgia. Thus, we are seeking a candidate who will lead, broaden, and expand our current programs as well as lead the faculty in the development of new programs and initiatives.
CSU’s commitment to the innovation, education, and practice of Cybersecurity has roots in its continuing support of the regional business community. TSYS, Inc. has recently funded the establishment of the TSYS Cybersecurity Center. The Center will prepare a strong cybersecurity workforce, promote technological innovation, foster economic growth, and influence the development of an effective cybersecurity practice in information technology and financial sectors.
Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position has been filled. Applications for part-time and full-time faculty positions must include transcripts of all academic work, and official transcripts must be presented prior to campus visit if selected for interview. Applicants must have the ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements, in particular a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
