The Director of the Office for Multicultural Learning (OML Director) supports the structure, direction, services, and programs of OML. The OML Director develops, implements, and assesses programs and initiatives that focus on diversity, multicultural learning, social justice, and inclusive excellence. The OML Director oversees strategic planning, assessment, budget management, staff development, and relationship building with campus partners while also serving as an advocate, advisor, and mentor to OML staff and students in general. And the OML Director plays a key role in promoting an inclusive campus climate through collaborative efforts with students, staff, and faculty.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Staff Supervision and Leadership (25%)
• Provide leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for the Office for Multicultural Learning (OML).
• Provide support and direction for the Rainbow Resource Center (RRC).
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate professional, paraprofessional, and student staff for OML and the RRC.
• Manage the operations and budget of OML and RRC.
• Provide oversight for the marketing of OML and RRC including websites, social media, and other marketing materials.
• Develop and coordinate an assessment plan to meet the departmental mission and goals for diversity, multicultural learning, social justice, and inclusive excellence.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate a strategic plan for OML including a mission statement, strategic goals, learning objectives, and competencies.2. Program and Curriculum Development (25%)
• Design, develop, and implement campus-wide programs for diversity, multicultural learning, social justice, and inclusive excellence grounded in multicultural competencies and/or OML learning objectives.
• Develop curriculum for diversity training to support campus-wide education and promote a positive campus climate for, but not limited to, Community Facilitators, Orientation Leaders, and incoming students.
• Provide support through advocacy and programs for first generation college students.
• Provide support through advocacy and programs for undocumented students.
• Provide leadership for signature programs such as the Multicultural Welcome Dinner, Ethnic Senior Ceremonies, Lavender Graduation, and the Difficult Dialogue Series.
• Provide leadership for the Ethnic History and Heritage Months through collaborative efforts with students, staff, and faculty.
• Manage the application and fund disbursement processes for the Multicultural Learning Grant and Erkman Grant.3. Committee Work and University Service (20%)
• Develop collaborative relationships with students, staff, faculty, and other partners to meet programming goals.
• Collaborate with the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer) Allies Network and Women of Color Network to support campus-wide education and promote a positive campus climate.
• Co-chair the Perspectives Committee to foster intergroup dialogue, social justice, and social identity development for students and student leaders.
• Serve as a member of the University Council on Inclusive Excellence.
• Act as a liaison to other departments and offices within the University and related outside groups as appropriate to areas of responsibility.
• Develop and chair committees as needed to further enhance the campus commitment to diversity, multicultural learning, social justice, and inclusive excellence.
• Serve on University committees as assigned.4. Advising (20%)
• Advise the Multicultural Center (MCC) chartered student organization which includes but is not limited to: meeting weekly with MCC staff, approving hours of MCC staff, providing guidance through board development, planning events, navigating campus policies, and reviewing budget and major purchases as needed.
• Advise the Inclusive Excellence Student Advisory Council.5. Policy and Procedure Development, Interpretation, and Implementation (5%)
• Provide advice, consultation, and support for OML strategic planning, assessment, programming, and responses to issues and trends.
• Interpret for students and enforce University and departmental policies.6. Other (5%)
• Serve as a resource for students, staff, and faculty.
• Research trends and best practices related to and issues of diversity, multicultural learning, social justice, and inclusive excellence.
• Develop relationships with external constituents.
• Confer with, counsel, and advise students, faculty, staff, and parents regarding programs, services, and opportunities offered by OML.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice Provost for Student Life and Director of Campus Programs.

4.Maintains contact with students and solicits feedback for improved services.
5.Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate tools, planned training, and performance initiatives.
6.Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
7.Ensures completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of all operational functions.
8.Prepares progress reports that informs supervisor of project status and deviation from goals.
9.Prepares and submits reports as requested and required.
10.Develops and implements guidelines to support the functions of the department.

1.Considerable time is spent at a desk using a computer terminal.

WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.1.Indoor office environment with windows, lounge, and restrooms. 2.Cubicle office space with no ceiling. 3.Private conference rooms available for confidential meetings with students and colleagues. 4.Frequent interruptions by students for both scheduled appointments and drop-in meetings.

Education and/or Experience:
•Master’s degree required in student affairs, higher education administration, counseling, or other relevant program.YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
•At least seven years of progressively responsible work in an academic setting or commensurate experience.
Salary Information: Hiring Range $3000.92 - $3501.46 semi-monthly
