Angelo State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of Nursing Programs to join the Physical Therapy and Athletic Training Program Directors in the Department of Nursing and Rehabilitation Sciences with an anticipated start date of June 2014. ASU (www.angelo.edu) is a regional state university and part of the Texas Tech University system. The university serves approximately 7,000 students on a diverse campus located in San Angelo, TX. The nursing program is one of three programs within the Department of Nursing and Rehabilitation Sciences and has over 300 undergraduate and graduate students. All programs are ACEN accredited. The nursing program is seeking a dedicated and visionary academic leader with a distinguished academic record and a commitment to nursing education.
DIRECTOR OF NURSING PROGRAMS/ASSOCIATE OR FULL PROFESSOR OF NURSING
Department: Nursing & Rehabilitation Sciences
Provide academic oversight of all nursing programs: Generic BSN, RN-BSN and MSN Programs (Family Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Educator tracks).
Facilitate and exercise leadership in systematic program evaluation, prepare annual reports and accreditation materials.
Coordinate development, review and implementation of the curricula with faculty participation and input to ensure currency and implementation that reflects best teaching practices.
Promote high standards of excellence in all programs.
Hiring, supervising, developing and evaluating faculty and staff.
Managing budgets and coordinating resources.
Teach in undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Established leadership and administrative skills.
Experience with nursing accreditation and regulatory bodies.
Proven skills in communication, consensus building, morale building and innovation with the ability to motivate and empower faculty, staff and students to succeed.
Knowledge of and experience with higher education principles, practices and procedures.
Commitment to the promotion of faculty scholarly activities and community engagement.
A distinguished record of teaching and/or scholarship that qualifies for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. A doctoral degree is required and the doctorate in nursing is preferred. If the doctoral degree is in a related field, a master's degree in nursing is required.
Advanced Practice certification preferred.
Unrestricted Texas or compact license to practice in Texas at the time of appointment is required.
