AA # 53-6-095

Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania

The Department of Mathematical and Digital Sciences at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania seeks a full time tenure track Faculty member at the Assistant Professor level.  Duties of the position are principally in the newly created Website Development major.  The Web Development major is being offered as an alternative to the traditional Computer Science major.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach courses in website development as well as occasional courses in computer science.  Some of the courses in the new major overlap with courses in the Computer Science major.  The normal teaching load is four class sections per semester, involving three course preparations with two sections of one course.  Duties will also involve advising departmental majors, primarily Website Development majors, and committee work.  Continued professional growth through scholarly activities  along with departmental, college, and university service are required.  Voluntary summer and winter session contracts may be available.  Non-traditional instructional delivery, specifically online courses, are contemplated as an option for this major.

A Master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field is required; a background in website development and/or graphic design experience is strongly preferred.  An earned Ph.D. or doctorate from an accredited institution is required for the final tenure decision.  Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations is preferred.  Finalists for this position must communicate well, and successfully complete an interview process and teaching presentation as judged by the department faculty.  Recommendation for hiring is needed from a majority of the regular, full-time faculty within the department.

A complete application consists of a cover letter, résumé, unofficial graduate transcripts, a statement of teaching experience and philosophy, a statement of research interests and plans for scholarly growth, and three letters of recommendation.  Email applications should be sent to [email protected] with the subject line “Web Major Faculty Position”.  Applications received by January 20, 2017 will be assured consideration; however the position will remain open until filled.

Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, educational and other credential verification, employment verification, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, and criminal background check.

Completing this search is contingent upon available funding.
