Major/Essential Duties of Job: Provides high value application solutions using advanced programming knowledge, techniques and application development tools. Analyzes business and/or client procedures and practices to identify and recommend opportunities for enhancement. Interacts with end users and project managers to gather requirements and prepare design specifications, conducts impact analysis and provide feedback on problems and recommends solutions. Acts as a sub-team lead and subject matter expert for complex application problem resolution. Ensures that application errors are detected, documented, and managed at a high level to avoid production outages and data problems. Prototype, test, deploy, document, and maintain code through SDLC. Recommends technical and procedural design for new or revised applications including flow charts, system specifications, programming guidelines and code review. Answers questions and provides technical assistance and/or training to applications users, resolves problems by reviewing and analyzing software documentation and production outputs to identify causes, solutions, and/or make appropriate referrals. Installs, promotes, or schedules application solutions and provides training to the customer and/or technical staff. Ensures that all work is accurate and in compliance with departmental or project quality standards. Participates in training and professional development sessions. Travel to Texas A&M University-Texarkana may be required up to one day a month. Position is located in Commerce, TX. This job description shall include, but is not necessarily limited to, the above duties. May temporarily perform other duties assigned to maintain operations and services. A Bachelor's degree with technical emphasis is required. Equivalent combination of experience/education may be accepted at employer's discretion. 2+ years of employment based experience developing advanced applications using a high level language. Demonstrated problem solving ability. Skills in C++, ASP, .Net, VB, Java, XML, XSLT, and IIS. Must have an understanding of the principles of database design, modeling, and relational databases with a working knowledge of SQL or PL/SQL. Knowledge of testing on major browsers and exposure to cross-browser/platform compatibility issues. Knowledge of software best practices and documentation. General understanding of relationships between database systems and web applications. Must be highly motivated and energetic with strong people skills. Must be willing to learn new technologies. Requires ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. U.S. citizenship or eligibility for and ability to obtain employment status under U.S. immigration laws by projected hire date.

Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's degree in computer science or related field. Experience with developing advanced applications using C++. Experience with Oracle database 11g. Experience with Unix/Linux/HP-UX operating systems. Experience with Banner Student Information System, WebFocus, AppWorx, DegreeWorks, Banner WorkFlow.
